Today is Valentine’s Day! Actually, it’s a day for couples and lovers, but I think we can happily stretch it a bit further. Because we don’t only love our partners, but also our children, friends, pets and some even (with a lot of passion) their crochet hook. So let’s today celebrate what we love – no matter whether it’s a person, an animal or a hobby. Because that’s what makes our lives beautiful and that’s all that matters!

With this cute heart chain you can spread lots of woolly love around the world. You can turn the pretty crochet pattern into bracelets, necklaces, ribbons or appliqués. I’m sure you will come up with some more great ideas on how to present the pretty little hearts. For me, the little crocheted hearts will be decorating one or two gifts for Valentine’s Day and my little cat will be happy about a new collar.

Good to know:

The crochet pattern can be crocheted with any wool, but it works best with a smooth cotton yarn, such as Schachenmayr Catania, Scheepjes Catona or Woll Butt Camilla*. For hearts with a size of approx. 1.5 – 2.0 cm, use a crochet hook with a size of 2.0/2.5 mm. The smaller the needle, the more tightly formed the pattern will be.

I crocheted my chain with a 2.5 mm needle. It consists of 12 hearts and is 19 cm long in total.

Pattern:

Make a chain  of ch 4. Crochet from the 2nd ch from the hook:

*dc 1,  htr 1, (htr 1, tr 3, ch 2, 1 sl st, rotate 90°, ch 2, tr 3, htr 1) in 1 st, htr 1, dc 1. Not fasten off, make a chain of ch 5. Crochet from the 2nd ch from the hook*, repeat from *  to * until the required length is reached.
